Allegany County officials began reviewing bids on two construction projects and learned of a major grant award that could help preserve a National Road heritage site last week during Allegany County Commission meetings. The Times News reports the county has been approved for a $750,000 Rural Legacy grant. County Planning Director Phil Hager said the 277-acre property situated between LaVale and Clarysville is a mile west of the LaVale Toll House.
