Assault

On October 2, 2011 at approximately 8:00 a.m., the Cumberland City Police Department responded to the 600 block of Lincoln Street in reference to an assault.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with Leo Durocher Jr and William Cage Jr.  Both Durocher and Cage told officers that they got into an argument which lead to them assaulting each other while out on the street.  As a result the neighborhood was disturbed by the yelling and screaming.  Both Durocher and Cage were both taken into custody and transported to Police Headquarters for processing. 

Arrested:

William Allen Cage Jr          Age: 22          Cumberland, MD

           Cage was charged with second degree assault, disorderly conduct and affray.  Cage was          taken to District Court for his initial appearance and released on his personal recognizance.

Leo Richard Durocher Jr          Age: 19          Cumberland, MD

          Durocher was charged with second degree assault, disorderly conduct and affray.  Durocher was taken to District Court for his initial appearance and released on his personal recognizance.

CDS

On October 2, 2011 at approximately 9:35 a.m., the Cumberland City Police Department responded to a business on Industrial Boulevard in reference to a check on well being.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with Andrew Russell Viney.  After checking on Viney’s condition the officer was given permission search his pockets and personal property.  The search revealed multiple items recognized as controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia, several pills and suspected Cocaine.  Viney was then placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  Viney was then transported to District Court for his initial appearance at which time he was held on $7,500.00 at the Allegany County Detention Center.

Arrested:

Andrew Russell Viney          Age: 23          Ridgeley, WV

Charges:

Four counts of CDS possession other than Marijuana.

 

Assault / Destruction of Property

On October 3, 2011 at approximately 12:20 a.m., an officer on patrol on W. Second Street contacted a subject who advised that she was just assaulted on Grand Avenue.  This subject also stated that the person that assaulted her also threw a brick which shattered the windshield to her vehicle.  The officer observed the damaged windshield to the vehicle.  Minor injuries were also observed to the victim which did not require medical treatment.  The officer then made contact with the suspect, Chantel Marie Custer.  While speaking with Custer she became very angry and started to curse and yell at officers while out on the street.  Custer continued to create a disturbance before being placed under arrest.  As the Officers were trying to place Custer in handcuffs she continued to pull away and resist arrest.  Custer was transported to Police Headquarters and once there she kicked an officer.  Custer was taken to District Court for her initial appearance and was held on $7,500.00 at the Allegany County Detention Center.

Chantal Marie Custer          Age: 26          Frostburg, MD

Charges:

Two counts of second degree assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and destruction of property.
