February 10th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

WBAL reports Harford County sheriff'seputies have been involved in a shooting in Abingdon.

At 11:46 a.m., deputies were called to the Panera Bread in the 3400 block of Merchant Boulevard. At least one shot was fired there, Sheriff Jeff Gahler said, wounding a deputy. A witness pointed backup deputies toward where the shooter had fled. A second deputy was shot in that pursuit. Within 15 minutes, the shooter was shot and killed by deputies.

One injured deputy was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, while the other was taken to Shock Trauma. The names of the deceased shooter and injured deputies have not been released.

Gahler said it's not yet clear what led to the call for service. The restaurant was very full for lunch, Gahler said, and it's fortunate no bystanders were hurt.

Baltimore police Commissioner Kevin Davis is at Shock Trauma offering support to the Harford deputy.
