According to Maryland State Police, 2015 began on a very sad note.
Early New Year's morning, at approximately 12:16 AM, a vehicle operated by Mary Brode of Cumberland traveled off of the roadway of US220/Bedford Road near Colton Drive, NE, Cumberland, Md.
Brode was operating a 2010 Nissan Rouge north-bound on US220/Bedford Road when the vehicle traveled off of the roadway, overturned and came to rest on its wheels on the east side of the roadway. The operator did not survive the motor vehicle collision.
Several units of the Maryland State Police, Cumberland Barrack, medical personnel and a representative from the Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene. The initial collision investigation was investigated by S/Tpr Wagoner of the Cumberland Barrack while the accident reconstruction investigation was conducted by M/Tpr. LeMay of the McHenry Barrack.
The investigation is continuing.
