New Regulations for Abortion Clinics

December 3rd, 2011 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland Health Department has proposed the first regulations on Maryland's abortion law. According to WBAL News, the new rules announced Friday are meant to increase oversight of abortion clinics. Currently, surgical clinics are not held to the same standards as other outpatient facilities. Under current law, abortion providers in Maryland can be disciplined by the state's Board of Physicians, but the facilities where abortions are provided are subject to little supervision.
