Animal Shelter Update

June 29th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland Water Department responded to Furnace Street Extended Sunday to work on repairing a drainage system break that created a large hole in the roadway, and major headaches for the Allegany County Animal Shelter.

Shelter Management Foundation President Becky McClarran told WCBC News that the repair work was to continue today, and the shelter is the only facility which has had its water service impacted.  Water service will continue to be disrupted on occasion as overall repairs are completed.

McClarran said the community has been incredibly supportive during the situation, with many responding to a call for water donations.  Foster caregivers have responded to the shelter, and many are still needed as the shelter is in the process of painting the facility.  The painting project is expected to be completed in less than a week.
