Delaney blames Trump for Mattis’ vacating post

December 21st, 2018 by WCBC Radio

Yesterday, in a clear rebuke of President Trump, General James Mattis announced his resignation as Secretary of Defense.

Presidential candidate Congressman John K Delaney (MD-6) releases the following statement:

“General Mattis’s resignation is a major loss for this administration and our country. His departure is further proof of the dysfunction of the Trump administration. General Mattis was the last semblance of stability in Trump’s sea of chaos. In a beautifully written letter, Mattis made clear that Trump’s nationalist views are fundamentally at odds with his values as an American. His constant criticism of our allies, admiration for authoritarians, and undercutting of global deals and agreements has degraded our standing as a global leader. Mattis understands that our network of alliances and commitment to global engagement are not signs of weakness, they make us stronger and more secure. I am truly grateful for General Mattis’s years of service to this country. His leadership will be truly missed.”
