West Virginia Governor Jim Justice has appointed Allan L. McVey as Secretary of Administration.
McVey has been serving as West Virginia Insurance Commissioner since being appointed by Gov. Justice in March 2017. He fills the position in the Department of Administration previously held by John Myers, who moved back to the West Virginia Lottery as its director.

"Allen has done a fantastic job as our insurance commissioner. During his tenure he has streamlined operations in his office, eliminated unnecessary positions and has saved taxpayer dollars. I am confident he will bring his skills to the table and do a wonderful job as Secretary of Administration," Gov. Justice said.
Prior to serving as insurance commissioner, McVey was a licensed insurance agent who worked in several capacities during his time in the private sector of the insurance industry. He also served as a Medical Claims Examiner with the WV Workers’ Compensation Fund.
McVey has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from West Virginia State University and has several post-graduate insurance designations.
