911 Riders in Cumberland

August 21st, 2015 by WCBC Radio

America's 911 Memorial Ride riders came through Cumberland on Friday morning on their way from Shanksville, Pa., to the Pentagon and on to Ground Zero in New York City. Hundreds of motorcycles, emergency response vehicles and others from many places have been doing this each year to remember the victims of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Once again many of the particpants who spoke with WCBC News during a stopover at Rocky Gap, say that one of the highlights of their journey is the reception they receive in Cumberland, where the streets they pass are lined with citizens who cheer them and show their support. Many of them say the reception is emotional and moving.
