ACPS Also Finds No Evidence Of Southern Complaint

October 22nd, 2018 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) was called upon to investigate potential violations of regulations by Fort Hill High School football coaches following a varsity football game between the Sentinels and Southern Garrett High School on Friday, October 5, 2018. It was alleged by Southern Garrett High School coaching staff that Fort Hill’s coaching staff was participating in illegal radio communication with players on the field by way of helmet microphones.

On October 18, 2018, after an MPSSAA impartial football committee reviewed the tape of the game in question, the organization voted 6-0 in Fort Hill’s favor for insufficient evidence.  Allegany County  Public Schools then had five days to conduct a local investigation into the allegations.  As a result of the investigation by both MPSSAA and Allegany County Public Schools, it was concluded that no violation of National Federation of  State High School Association rules, MPSSAA tournament policies and state regulations occurred.

Since both organizations found no evidence to substantiate the claims brought forth by Southern Garrett against Fort Hill, the case was officially closed on Monday, October 22, 2018. According to ACPS Superintendent of Schools, Dr. David Cox, “I fully support our students and their dedicated coaches, who work hard to earn their successes.” He continued, “This complaint and the manner in which it was lodged is beyond disappointing.”
