ACTA Make Plea for Pay Increase

May 10th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

A slightly different approach taken this week by representatives of the Allegany County Teachers Association in addressing the county commissioners during a second budget hearing- with much more focus on how fewer dollars will impact the children. Last week several members of ACTA raised the ire of the commissioners, suggesting it was unfair of the commissioners to provide a 3% COLA increase for county employees- while not fully funding the school board’s request, thus making teacher raises more difficult to come by.  On Thursday afternoon, Evan West, Uniserv Director for ACTA, made an impassioned plea- he said- on behalf of the students.
