Adopting Animals Could Mean Tax Credit

March 3rd, 2012 by WCBC Radio

Rescue animals could mean tax credits in Maryland after the introduction of legislation Friday. House Bill 882 was introduced in the Ways and Means Committee Friday afternoon and reportedly would give up to a $100 state income tax credit to people who adopt dogs or cats from an animal shelter or a rescue group. Locally, tension has surrounded the Allegany County Animal Shelter, with opponents pointing to questionable conditions and overcrowding. If the House bill passes it would take effect on July 1st of this year.
