Alcohol Compliance Checks Hearings Completed

February 1st, 2012 by WCBC Radio

During the months of October and November of 2011, the Allegany County Sheriff's Office conducted Alcohol Compliance Checks on 166 businesses in Allegany County.  As a result 21 businesses were found to be in violation, in most cases for failing to properly identify underage persons and then selling them alcohol.  The initiative started following a warning issued by Sheriff Craig Robertson by way of an article in the Times-News.  The hearings were held last week by the Allegany County Liquor board and all 21 businesses cited were found guilty and were punishments ranging from fines to temporary closures.
