Allegany Co. First Responders Make Transition To Maryland First

First-responders in Allegany County made the transition to the Maryland First, digital radio system last week. Department of Emergency Services Deputy Director Roger Bennett said the new system allows for seamless communication with the county’s joint communications center, hospitals, other jurisdictions and emergency units and improving life safety for the county’s first-responders.  Allegany County government has invested $8 million in the radio communications upgrade that includes installation of 275 mobile radios in law enforcement vehicles, fire department apparatus, ambulances and command vehicles and deployment of more than 700 new portable radios.
