Allegany College event geared toward home school students

September 13th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

Did you know that 1.7 million K-12 students in the United States are homeschooled? Or that more youth in rural communities are homeschooled than their counterparts in urban or suburban communities?

For regional families who choose to homeschool their children, Allegany College of Maryland is holding a Homeschool College Experience event on Friday, September 27, 2019, from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at its main campus in Cumberland. High school seniors and students who are currently in grades 9 to 12 are encouraged to attend this free event.

Homeschool students will have the chance to participate in hands-on activities in cybersecurity and computer graphics, medical laboratory technology and the sciences. Parents who attend will learn more about the ACM’s admissions process, registration, advising, financial aid, scholarship programs and Student Support Services.

Lunch and a campus tour will be provided. Event attendees are also invited to stay from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. for a family fun event that includes swimming in ACM’s indoor pool.

To register by September 20, please contact Sue Rowan at srowan@allegany.edu or by calling 301-784-5120.
