Allegany College Working Toward Reaccreditation

July 5th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education, which is reviewing Allegany College of Maryland’s request for reaccreditation, has noted ongoing progress in efforts to strengthen the institution.

The regional accrediting agency, which last year affirmed college performance in 11 of 14 characteristics-of-excellence standards, has been collaborating with ACM in follow-up actions to improve operations in three overall areas.

Middle States had expressed concern about how the college assesses its effectiveness, including in student learning and achievement of organizational goals, and its methods to plan, allocate resources and renew the institution.

The commission, meeting in late June, affirmed the recent findings of Middle States evaluators who found the college to now be in compliance with assessment of student learning, one of the three standards.

It also noted ACM’s continued progress toward compliance with Middle States standards on planning, resource allocation and institutional renewal as well as assessment of college academic programs and administrative units.
