As a result of the state adopting a new budget last week and avoiding the doomsday version- the Allegany County Commissioners were able to avoid any additional layoffs or furloughs- however that may be only temporary. With the state fiscal picture not expected to improve anytime soon, and that could mean less funding for local agencies and operations next year and beyond. It could also mean revisiting personnel matters.
