Allegany County Library System (ALCS) is developing a new strategic
plan and is seeking feedback from community stakeholders to help shape the organization’s direction for the
future.
The plan’s intent is to examine the Library’s current role in the community and to assess how it can better
serve the residents of Allegany County. In order to frame the plan, it is important to take in the perspective of
people working inside the system, current patrons and library advocates. Additionally, the Library hopes to
connect with the broader community, key stakeholders and others to hear their ideas and dreams for how the
Allegany Public Library System can build partnerships to better support the changing needs of the community.
Allegany County Library System’s Executive Director, John Taube, is excited about the project, stating, “Our
mission is to enrich people’s lives by providing information, material, and services that promote our
community, encourage lifelong learning and provide opportunity for all. This community survey will help us
identify how the county’s residents feel and help lay the groundwork to improve our programs and services in
the near future. The community’s involvement is essential to building our strategic plan.”
The easiest way to voice your thoughts and opinions on the Allegany County Library System is to fill out the
online survey by August 15th, 2019. This survey should take 5-7 minutes to complete. As an added incentive,
community members that take the survey will be entered into a drawing for a $20 Amazon gift card. Three
winners will be chosen at random.
