Allegany County Sheriff’s Department Investigates Collisions

On 1/26/20 at approximately 2050 hrs an accident was reported in the area of Main Street Westernport, Maryland. Vehicle #1 1996 Subaru being operated by David Rickey Cameron Age 60 Westernport, Md was traveling on Main Street and crossed the center line and struck Vehicle #2 a 2019 Nissan Truck operated by Catherine Mock Westernport, Md. then continued and struck a building causing damage to the building. Cameron was found to be at fault. Cameron was transported for non life threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing and Charges are pending against Cameron.  

On 1/26/20, at approximately 1842 hrs., Deputies were dispatched to the area Oldtown Road at Teter hill for a motor vehicle crash. The investigation revealed that Vehicle #1 2011 Hyundai Sonata was traveling east on Route 51 and a deer crossed in front of vehicle #1 causing the operator Robert Hunter 58 yrs old Torrington Ct to strike the deer and cross the center line and strike vehicle #2 a 2013 Ford truck operated by Derek Smalley 42 yrs old Connellsville, Pa. Smalley  had 2 passengers in the vehicle. All four were transported to Western Maryland with Non life threatening injuries. Both vehicles were destroyed and towed from the scene. 

The investigation continues.
