Allegany County will get help from the state to fill potholes. The Allegany County commissioners will accept $228,751 from the state for pothole repair. A total of $10 million was set aside by the Maryland Department of Transportation for the state's counties to patch and repair roads damaged by ice over the past several months. It’s a long way from the $4 million plus the county had been receiving from highway user revenues- with County Commissioners President Mike McKay calling the allocation “insulting”. The Commissioners, during a public work session, agreed to pledge half of the funds- roughly $114,000- to towns and cities in the county.
