Alleged NSA Leaker’s Maryland Activity Not Of Interest To Investigators

June 6th, 2017 by WCBC Radio

FBI investigators are not investigating alleged NSA leaker Reality Winner for any activity while she was stationed in Maryland, the agency confirms. The agency's Atlanta office is leading the investigation into Winner, who was charged Monday for leaking top secret NSA documents on Russian interference in the 2016 election to The Intercept.

Task & Purpose reports Winner, who reportedly served as a linguist in the Air Force and is fluent in Pashto, Farsi and Dari, enlisted in 2013. She served as an airman first class with the 94th Intelligence Squadron at Fort Meade until she separated, an Air Force source told the publication.

Winner of Augusta, Georgia, is a contractor with Pluribus International Corporation, authorities said. She had been working at an unidentified government facility in Georgia "since on or about Feb. 13" and held a top secret security clearance, according to authorities.

On March 22, The Intercept hosted a podcast online looking at, among other things, the public outcry over Russia's alleged collusion with associates of President Donald Trump and the Kremlin's alleged interference in last year's presidential election.
