Armed robbery in Bel Air; suspects in custody

Maryland State Police investigating an armed robbery that occured around 10 Wednesday morning at Steve's Pharmacy in Bel Air. A suspect vehicle was spotted near the Greater Cumberland Regional Airport.

The suspect, who was reportedly wearing a red or black hoodie and wearing a mask up to his eyes, possibly entered a dark-colored red van that Maryland State Police medevac Trooper 5 helicopter located on Route 28. As the helicopter monitored the vehicle, an Allegany County Sheriff’s Department deputy began following the vehicle that reportedly stopped briefly at a Route 28 business and then proceeded to a residential area in near the Wiley Ford Elementary School. Ridgeley Police assisted after the vehicle was stopped. About an hour after the incident, police radio traffic indicated at least two suspects were in custody. Maryland State Police, the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and C3I investigators responded to the incident.

As a result, West Virginia authorities arrested 36 year old Andrew Vincent Crescenzo, of Cumberland, and 29 year old John Mark Self, of Cumberland, as fugitives based on the Maryland warrants. The charges in Maryland include Armed Robbery, Assault, Theft, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery. Crescenzo and Self are both being held in West Virginia pending their return to Maryland.
