City police arrested a Cumberland man early Sunday morning after responding to the 200 block of Charles Street for a verbal argument that had turned physical. After observing injuries to the alleged victim, they arrested 27 year old Claude Valentine, charging him with 2nd degree assault. Valentine was taken to District Court and held in lieu of $3500 bail.
