On Friday, 03/27/2015, 29 year old Joshua Mathew Sheets, of Cumberland, was arrested by the Cumberland Police after a warrant, related to a sex offense investigation, had been issued for his arrest. On 03/09/2015 the Cumberland Police responded to a complaint alleging that Sheets had engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with a 14 year old female victim from Cumberland. Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) conducted the follow-up investigation. After Investigators conducted interviews of the victim and additional witnesses, they obtained a warrant for Sheets’ arrest, charging him with 3rd Degree Sex Offense, 2nd Degree Assault, and Perverted Practice. Sheets was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance. He is currently being held at the Allegany County Detention Center on bond pending his next court appearance.
