Arrest on Pennsylvania Avenue Christmas Morning

December 25th, 2014 by WCBC Radio

On Christmas morning at approximately 12:22 a.m., officers from the Cumberland Police Department were dispatched to a Pennsylvania Avenue residence for a 911 hang up call.  Officers arrived and made contact with a female subject who stated that her male friend had called 911 because he was intoxicated.  Officers spoke with the male subject who was identified as Eric Brewer.  Brewer admitted to calling but had no true reason for making the 911 call.  Brewer became irate with officers and exited the residence as officers were leaving the area.  Brewer started to yell and cause a public disturbance.  Officers instructed Brewer to lower his voice and return inside the residence.   Brewer entered the residence and officers returned to their patrol vehicles.  Brewer exited the residence again and began to yell and scream.  Officers contacted Brewer again and he again refused to enter the residence, continuing to yell.  Brewer was taken into custody and transported to Cumberland Police Headquarters for processing.  At Police Headquarters Brewer was processed and officers attempted to release Brewer on criminal citations.  Brewer refused to cooperate with officers while being processed.  Brewer was taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was released pending trial.

Eric Brewer, age 42 of Cumberland

Charges: Disorderly conduct, fail to obey a lawful order, and false report
