On Monday afternoon, 08/29/2011, shortly after 4:00 PM, a Mason Road resident returned home and discovered a vehicle parked in the driveway of the family’s private residence. He approached the driver of the vehicle and asked him if he could help him. The driver replied that his friend had lost his dog and was around the back of the house looking for it.
The resident then entered the residence where he discovered another suspect inside the house carrying several items belonging to the victims. Upon observing the second suspect in the house, the resident backed out to his car and called 911. At that time the first suspect left in the vehicle.
Deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, as well as Troopers with the Maryland State Police, an MSP K-9 dog, and MSP helicopter Trooper 5. A search of the residence and the surrounding area was conducted, but neither suspect was located at that time.
Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) responded, as well, to assist in the investigation. Along with Deputies they learned that several items had been removed from the residence, including jewelry, electronics, and a semi-automatic handgun. The total loss is valued at over $4200.00.
The resident was able to provide Deputies with a description of the vehicle and the tag number. A broadcast was given out to all local law enforcement. A short time later the vehicle was located by the Cumberland Police. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver, 27 year old Antonio Robert Muir of Cumberland, was taken into custody.
Muir was positively identified by the resident as the driver of the vehicle he found in the driveway when he first returned home. Continued investigation into the incident led to the identity of the second suspect, who was also positively identified by the resident as the person inside the residence at the time of the incident.
As Investigators were obtaining an arrest warrant for the second suspect, 28 year old Brandon Cole Horwath of Cumberland, he turned himself in at the Cumberland Police Department.
Both Muir and Horwath were charged with 1st Degree Burglary, 3rd Degree Burglary, 4th Degree Burglary, and Theft. Both were taken before the District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance. Muir remains incarcerated on $35,000.00 bond, and Horwath on $50,000.00 bond, at the Allegany County Detention Center, pending their next court appearances.
The investigation is continuing.

This is not the first for these two. They qualify for the dumbest criminals. They need to find a new occupation other than robbery/theft. This is the original dumb and dumber. Really, they need to get a life and earn their money instead of taking it from the hard working people. One day they will run into the wrong person and you know what they say about carma.
