As City Officials Meet With CSX Officials Tuesday Washington Street Residents Remain Concerned

Cumberland City officials will meet with CSX Transportations representatives this afternoon as efforts continue to hammer out an arrangement that could lead to the three closed bridges on the city’s West Side repaired or replaced.  Access to the West Side has been dramatically impacted in recent years with bridges on Washington, Cumberland and Fayette streets all closed for repair or possible replacement. Terry Murphy, president of the Washington Street Association, tells WCBC News that residents there remain concerned that the Washington Street structure is not a high priority. She said the focus seems to be on Cumberland and Fayette streets and she believes that takes away from the city’s bargaining power…
