Assistance Needed in Hit and Run

On Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at approximately 10:00 a.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to the Canal Parkway near W. Elder Street in reference to a hit and run. Upon the officers arrival to the scene the victim's vehicle was found to be in the roadway with heavy damage to the front portion of the vehicle. The officer contacted the operator and the occupant. The occupant of the victim's vehicle was injured and transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for treatment of non life-threatening injuries by the Cumberland Fire Department.

Officers then contacted witnesses on the scene who stated that a silver in color Ford pickup truck was operating in a reckless manner and passed several vehicles in a no passing zone on the Canal Parkway. The victim and suspect vehicles were both traveling South on the Canal Parkway headed into West Virginia at the time of the accident.

No registration information was obtained by the victim or witnesses. The Cumberland Police Department is seeking the public help in identifying the suspect vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cumberland Police Department at 301-777-1600.
