At Least 8 Democrats Weighing Gubernatorial Race In MD

As soon as the 2017 Maryland General Assembly Session gaveled to a close last month- it marked the unofficial beginning of the 2018 gubernatorial race. At least eight Democrats are weighing whether to jump into the wide-open party primary next year to challenge popular Republican Governor Larry Hogan for Maryland's top office.  While Hogan still enjoys strong approval ratings in recent polls from members of both parties- Democrats see an opportunity to reclaim the governor's mansion in a state where they outnumber Republicans more than 2-1. Mileah Krome, director of the Sarah T. Hughes Field Politics Center at Goucher College, says she believes Sixth District Congressman John Delaney may hold the key to next year’s gubernatorial race- and he may be the only one with a legitimate chance to unseat Hogan…
