Atlantic Broadband Bought By Canadian Company

October 25th, 2012 by WCBC Radio

The cable company that serves the greater Cumberland area has been purchased by a Canadian firm.  Atlantic Broadband LLC,  entered into a stock purchase agreement in July with Cogeco Cable  Inc. of Montreal, according to a letter received by the City of Cumberland  where Atlantic Broadband has a cable franchise. A statement from Atlantic's general counsel Bartlett Leber indicates that the  change in ownership does not affect the management or operations of the  cable system, nor will it change rates and services.  As a result of the transaction, the Cumberland Mayor and City Council is required to adopt a resolution granting the transfer for the local operation. City Administrator Jeff Rhodes.
