Attempted Robbery in Westernport

January 9th, 2012 by WCBC Radio

On Sunday, at approximately 1:15 AM, a lone suspect entered the Fair Price Market in Westernport and approached the counter. The suspect provided the employee on duty with a note.  The note indicated that the suspect had a gun and that the suspect wanted money from the cash register.  The employee refused to give the suspect any money and told the suspect to leave the business.  The suspect left the business, and fled the business on foot, heading east.   The suspect did not display a weapon at any time during the incident.     The Allegany County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene and assistance was provided by members of the Maryland State Police. The suspect was described as a white female in her late-teens to early twenties, approximately 5-02 feet tall, and 150 to 160 pounds in weight. She was wearing a heavy black “Eskimo” coat with fur around the hood and red shirt.  She had the hood of the coat pulled up over her head in an apparent attempt to disguise her face.  Anyone with information regarding this case can call the Allegany County Sheriff’s Department at 301-777-5959, or the C3I Unit at 301-777-0326.
