Authority Plans To Continue To Work On Carpendale Bridge Project

The Mineral County Development Authority plans to continue to work on the Carpendale bridge project despite not being able to obtain money from the Mineral County Commission for a master plan. Kevin Clark, Mineral County Development Authority executive director, said this week that a developer has agreed to send a letter of interest to the state and an individual has expressed an interest in locating a hotel there.  In August, the commission said it didn’t have money to fund a portion of the $40,000 towards the master plan for a bridge across the Potomac River from Carpendale to U.S. Route 220 at Bowling Green. Although the county officials say they can’t come up with the necessary funding, Commissioners President Dr Richard Lechliter strongly supports the bridge project, primarily because of the improved access for emergency services that it would create…
