Awarding Of Bid To Demolish Former Sacred Heart Hospital Delayed

Going through requested waivers for the state’s minority hire process by at least two companies has delayed the Allegany County Board of Education’s awarding of a bid to demolish the former Sacred Heart Hospital building. The bid was to be awarded last month, but two companies’ requests have slowed that process- and this could delay that aspect of the new Allegany High School project by at least a month. Vince Montana, facilities director for the Board of Education, said that while it’s frustrating- there is no getting around the established state guidelines and regulations…
