The Allegany County Commissioners Thursday received a proposed balanced budget for FY 2014-2015, with the bulk of reducing a projected $1.6 million shortfall being made up at the expense of the Board of Education. County Administrator Dave Eberly and Finance Director Jason Bennett proposed that the school board’s allocation be held to the maintenance of effort which is formulated based on student population. Eberly said its never an easy decision to reduce education funding….
