February 12th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

The Office of the State’s Attorney for Allegany County, Maryland, Michael O. Twigg, State’s Attorney, announced: On Thursday, February 12, 2015, the Honorable Gary G. Leasure, Judge of the Circuit Court for Allegany County, Maryland, sentenced Rodricus Marquees Wilkes, 26, of Baltimore, Maryland, to ten (10) years actual incarceration within the Division of Corrections.  The sentence was the result of a plea held on January 8, 2015, in which Wilkes pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Heroin. The case was a result of a tip from a concerned citizen about drug dealing in their neighborhood. Officers of the Cumberland City Police Department responded to that tip encountering Mr. Wilkes at the scene.  Mr. Wilkes was then arrested for his part in the conspiracy. Mr. Twigg was quoted as saying: “This is a fine example of how a collaborative effort between the community, law enforcement, and the State’s Attorney’s Office, can and does result in a successful prosecution”. Prosecuting the case for the State was Assistant State’s Attorney Samuel Lane; Mr. Wilkes was represented by Michael Stankan, Esq., Office of the Public Defender
