Bambara Inaugurated at Allegany College of Maryland

September 16th, 2012 by WCBC Radio

Although she has held the position since April, 2011, Cynthia Bambara was officially sworn in to the job in ceremonies Friday  as the fifth president in the history of Allegany College of Maryland.
About 70 faculty and staff members gathered in ACM’s College Center for the two-hour event, which was also attended by several dozen community leaders. Bambara, who most recently served as interim president of Central Virginia Community College, spent 18 years at Lord Fairfax Community College, where she had been vice president of student success since 2004. She is ACM’s fifth president, taking over from interim president Gary Durr. The college’s fourth president, Bruce Exstrom, resigned unexpectedly last summer.
