Bartlett Warns of Lack of Representation With Redistricting

January 3rd, 2013 by WCBC Radio

His resume runs the gamut from scientist and inventor to college professor and farmer- but the last 20 years have been as Maryland’s Sixth District Congressman. Republican Roscoe Bartlett leaves the office this week that he has held since 1992- and he does so, he says, with few regrets.  After ten consecutive successful election bids, the 86 year old was defeated in November by democrat John Delaney. Many attribute his defeat to a newly redrawn district, eliminating thousands of conservative republicans and adding thousands of more liberal democrats.  Bartlett says he is not bitter about the election outcome, although he has concerns that those residents of far western Maryland, particularly Allegany and Garrett counties will not be receiving adequate representation in Washington.
