May 1st, 2015 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland Times News reports a Bedford County man was arrested Thursday for allegedly threatening to shoot Bedford County District Attorney William Higgins and threatening to blow up the Bedford County courthouse. Wayne Clark, 42, of Alum Bank was taken into custody on charges of retaliation against prosecutor or judicial official, terroristic threats and harassment. Clark remained jailed Friday on $100,000 bond at the Bedford County Jail following arraignment before a Bedford County district justice magistrate. Police said Clark “made threats that he was going to blow up District Attorney Bill Higgins’ residence with him and his family inside.” It was also reported that Clark had threatened to shoot Higgins and blow up the courthouse. Higgins said early Friday afternoon that Clark is pending trial in a driving under the influence case and that he had made the threats in conversations with two people — one of whom was Clark’s wife. “Fortunately, she came forward and made us aware of the threats. She took them seriously and so do we,” said Higgins.
