Early Saturday morning, Cumberland Police were called to the 800 block of Bedford Street in reference to an assault in progress. Upon the officers arrival to the scene two subjects were on the ground. The officer separated the two and began to investigate the incident. Investigation revealed that both subjects began to argue about an earlier incident which was previously reported to the police. During the argument 48-year old David Ronald Lion Christifer allegedly attempted to assault the other adult male with a broken piece of 4×4 lumber. Christifer was charged with attempted first degree assault, second degree assault, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct and is being held in lieu of $8500 bond.
