Bench Warrant Served On City Resident

On Saturday, the Cumberland Police Department served a District Court bench warrant on Steven Todd Herrick.

The warrant was issued as a result of Herrick failing to appear for his court case on 11/14/16.

Herrick was placed under arrest, processed, and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office where he was released on his personal recognizance pending trial.

THEFT ARREST

On Saturday, at approximately 2:20 PM, the Cumberland Police Department responded to a Maryland Avenue business for a shoplifting complaint.

Upon arrival, officers contacted the suspect, John Matthew Gutillo. After investigation into the incident, officers determined that Gutillo stole merchandise. All of the stolen items were recovered and returned to the store.

Gutillo was placed under arrest, processed, and released on a criminal citation pending trial.

CHARGES: Theft less than $100

On December 23, 2016 at 8:00 pm, officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business on Park St. for a shoplifting complaint.

When officers arrived they made contact with loss prevention employees. Loss prevention advised that they had witnessed Christopher Simmons, age 24, Cumberland, MD, concealing items inside of his clothing. Loss prevention then confronted Simmons and detained him awaiting officer’s arrival. When officers arrived they retrieved the stolen products.

Simmons was placed under arrested and transported to the Cumberland Police Department. Simmons was then charged on a Criminal Citation for theft less than $100 and released pending trial in District Court.
