Bill for Community Schools Being Pushed Again

November 1st, 2011 by WCBC Radio

Although rejected last year by the local legislative delegation, Westernport native Tom Marsh told the Allegany County Commissioners last week that he plans to push once again for a bill that would advocate county-wide community schools. The proposal, who many view as Marsh’ latest plan to re-establish a high school in  home Georges Creek district, would carry a hefty price tag and stands virtually no chance of being seriously considered for introduction by the delegation. Marsh says the school board’s handling of the request for a new Allegany High School demonstrates a double standard when compared to how other school closings and consolidations have been handled in other parts of the county.
