Bill Valentine Still A Candidate For School Board

November 12th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

Former Allegany County Commissioner Bill Valentine tells WCBC that he has not withdrawn as a candidate for the vacancy on the Allegany County Board of Education, and has filled out the paperwork necessary to be considered for an appointment by Governor Larry Hogan.

We had received an indication that Valentine had pulled out, but he corrected the record yesterday.

Other candidates reportedly vying for the seat are former local and state board member Ed Root, Linda Widmeyer, Deb Littman and Christine Bender.

Other sources tell WCBC that Hogan wants all potential candidates to express their interest by November 15 and he is interested in filling the post within a week after that date.

The vacancy was created when the State Board of Education voted to remove Wayne Foote last month.
