Maryland Governor Larry Hogan is making good on one of the promises he made two weeks ago in his State of the State Address. WBAL reports the governor used a speech this week to small business leaders to formally introduce the bill that would exempt businesses from paying the personal property income tax up to $10,000. Hogan says as many as 70,000 small businesses would pay either reduced or no state property taxes. Hogan says this is one of the moves the state can do to help businesses. The NFIB and Maryland Chamber of Commerce praise the bill, which faces strong opposition from Democrats. Senate President Mike Miller says this bill takes millions away from local government who rely on money from the state tax. Budget Secretary David Brinkley disputed that claim…
