Swearing ceremonies were conducted Wednesday morning at the Central Office of the Allegany County Board of Education- with Ed Root and Nick Hadley officially beginning four year terms. It was essentially a non election for school board last year, with Root and Hadley the only two candidates to file for two open seats. It will be Root’s second term and the first for Hadley, the former mayor of Lonaconing. Wednesday also marked the end of service on the board for Jeff Metz who, after 8 years, opted not to seek a third term. There has been some speculation that Metz may seek elected office again in two years, however he says he has no such plans at this time.
