Board’s Fiscal Picture Improving; Shortfall Approximately $350K

Although once again receiving only maintenance of effort dollars from the county- the Board of Education’s fiscal picture has improved somewhat thanks in large part to additional funding from the state. The Allegany County Commissioners will conduct a third and final budget hearing next week and will adopt the FY 2018 budget June 1st. During this week’s work session of the board of education, finance director Larry McKenzie said that when the final numbers are approved- it looks like the school system will see a shortfall of almost $350,000…
