Bob Kirk Retires

NJCCA Hall of Fame Basketball Coach Bob Kirk officially retired on Monday, from his role as Athletic Director at Allegany College of Maryland.  Kirk retired from coaching in 2004.  In his tenure, which started in 1971, Kirk led Allegany to national prominence with a 927-158 record which produced 12 NJCAA national tournament berths, including two appearances in the championship final game. Allegany had won six district titles, 17 Region XX titles, 24 Maryland JuCo Conference regular season championships and 17 conference tournament titles. Kirk began his coaching duties the same year as Don Alexander joined the faculty. Alexander eventually became President of the College and remained at the helm during the dominate basketball years  established by Kirk. He talked with WCBC News and said that Kirk excelled on and off the court as a mentor to students…
