The Tribune-Democrat reports the two sets of human remains found Friday along Ligonier Pike in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, near the Menoher Swim Club were those of homicide victims, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.

But investigators still need more time to confirm their identities. Not even the gender of the corpses have been determined yet by Mercyhurst University forensic scientists.

Preliminary findings could take approximately 10 to 14 days, according to Somerset County District Attorney Lisa Lazzari-Strasiser, who spoke during a press conference at the Somerset County barracks on Monday morning.

"Something could also come up earlier once they start to put what they took with them under the microscope so to say, but I'm pretty certain it won't be before that," she said.

Officials also discussed the recent case of two men who went missing in the area earlier this year: Damian Michael Staniszewski, 19, of Duncansville, and James Edward Smith, 32, of Portage.

Both were reported missing by their respective families on March 28.
