Body discovered in Hampshire county

September 26th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland Times News reports Hampshire County deputies were investigating a report of a body found in a residence on Hickory Corner Road on Thursday morning. The sheriff’s office said officers responded to the scene to investigate the report that was first received by the Hampshire County 911 center at about 6 a.m. Although the sheriff’s office could not confirm the reports that a body had been found, a spokesman confirmed at late morning that officers were still at the scene. The report also apparently prompted the brief lockdown of the Slanesville Elementary School late Thursday morning. The lockdown was lifted at about 10:30 a.m. Sources in Hampshire County told the Times-News the victim was an adult male. Chief Deputy Nathan Sions reportedly called the situation “an isolated incident” at late morning. He also said the investigation had shifted to the Capon Bridge area of the county at that time. The chief deputy was reportedly at the scene in Slanesville when he made the comments. There are some indications that this may have been a domestic dispute situation; and another report of law enforcement surrounding a home in the area.
