Body Found in Cumberland Sent for Autopsy

On Thursday morning, 11/29/2012, at approximately 5:15 AM, the Cumberland Police and the Cumberland Fire Department Ambulance responded to a private residence on Maryland Avenue in Cumberland for an unresponsive subject. When they arrived they found an unconscious 54 year female fully submerged in the bathtub. CFD Paramedics began emergency treatment while transporting the victim to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center where she was later pronounced deceased.

Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) also responded to the scene to assist in the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death. An evidence collection technician with the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division also responded to process the scene.

The initial investigation revealed no sign of trauma to the body or obvious cause of death. The body is being sent to the Maryland State Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The investigation is continuing by the Cumberland Police and C3I.
