BoE Expected To Discuss Process To Hire Permanent Superintendent

January 20th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

The Allegany County Board of Education is expected to discuss the process that will be used to hire a permanent superintendent when they meet with officials from the Maryland Association of Board’s of Education early next month. All indications are that the board will conduct a national search. The contract of interim superintendent Jeff Blank expires in June. Blank, by a 3-2 vote in October, was appointed permanent superintendent however the state rejected the action two weeks later saying it wasn’t conducted in the proper time frame and thus was not legally valid. Although the situation placed Blank in an awkward situation- Board President Tammy Fraley doesn’t believe he felt disrespected in anyway….

Appearing on WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show”, Ms Fraley was asked if Blank would be a candidate for the permanent position…

I hope they will consider keeping Mr. Blank. He is a very fair and honest man and he has done a wonderful job as interim superintendent.
